박비주는 동시대를 살아가는 이들의 피로와 고통, 그리고 그 너머의 회복을 주제로 작업한다. 그의 작업은 개인적 경험에서 출발했지만, 점차 우리 모두가 공유하는 시대의 증상과 정서로 확장되었다. 회화 속에 반복 적으로 등장하는 알약, 음식, 빨래와 같은 오브제들은 각 시리즈마다 동시대의 불안과 소모를 은유하며, 이를 통해 삶을 소모시키는 현대 사회의 단면을 드러낸다.
박비주는 사회적 현실을 직시하며, 그 현실을 만들어가는 이들—그리고 이를 향유하는 이들—이 마주해야 할 질문을 던진다. 그리고 그 질문의 해답을 모색하는 장치로 최근 〈코스모 런드리〉를 선보였다. 이 대안적 공간은 상처 입은 존재들이 잠시 머물러 치유와 회복을 경험하는 곳으로, 그녀는 관객이 그 속에서 오래된 상처를 마주하고 치유의 순간을 맞이하길 바란다.
박비주는 예술로 삶을 드러내고 씻어내며, 다시 살아갈 힘을 전하는 작업을 앞으로도 이어갈 것이다.
Park Biju works on themes of the fatigue and pain of those living in contemporary times, and the possibility of recovery beyond them. Her work begins with personal experience but gradually expands into the shared symptoms and emotions of our era. Objects such as pills, food, and laundry appear repeatedly in her paintings, serving as metaphors that, in each series, reflect the anxiety and exhaustion of contemporary life, thereby revealing the fragmentary reality of a society that consumes existence.
She confronts social realities head-on, posing questions that must be faced by those who construct these realities—and those who partake in them. As a device to seek answers to these questions, she recently introduced Cosmo Laundry. This alternative space is envisioned as a place where wounded beings can pause, experience healing and recovery, and face their long-held scars in order to encounter a moment of restoration.
Through her art, Park Biju continues to reveal and cleanse life, offering the strength to live on anew.
